_Video: Cops Arrest Man For "Ridiculing" Cyclist
Just when you think you've got the NYPD pegged, they throw you a curve. We thought they were hell bent on hassling cyclists, but here we have video of them spontaneously arresting a man for "ridiculing" a cyclist as they issue a summons for biking on the sidewalk. An unidentified passerby scolds the cyclist as he strolls by, saying, "You're a grown man, you know better than that!" (The cyclist wisecracks, "I just got my training wheels off and I'm afraid of the streets.") Although the heckler has walked away, several cops pour out of the police van to teach the man a lesson in manners. Luckily backup arrives before the guy uses any salty language! Here's an instant YouTube classic: [MORE]

Cop Tickets Cyclist For Hanging Tote Bag On Handlebars

Let's get this Friday started right, let's get this Friday started quickly: For too long New Yorkers have chafed under the boot of spandex hipster fixie cyclists and their ironic tote bags, and now, finally, the NYPD is riding to the rescue. The NY Post, of all rags, is running buck wild with a story of a woman who was issued a summons for riding her bike on Columbus Avenue with a tote bag hanging on the handlebars. And the Post, which has published countless cartoonish anti-cyclist rants, is suddenly shocked that police would ever do such an absurd thing!... [ MORE ]

Cops "Raped Me, Left Me In A Pool Of Vomit In My Bed To Die"

After hearing tearful testimony yesterday from a young woman accusing an NYPD officer of raping her while his partner acted as a lookout, jurors heard an audio recording she secretly made ten days after the alleged attack. You can read the transcript in full below; the unidentified victim is identified here as "Controlled Witness" or C.W. She confronted Officer Kenneth Moreno outside the 9th Precinct station house, and though he denies raping her when she was passed out drunk in her apartment, he also "reassures" her that he used a condom. And in another confusing contradiction, Moreno explains, "It was my daughter's birthday that day. I was in a very helpful mood."... [ MORE ]

Teen Talent Show Gets Ugly: Brooklyn Girl Viciously Beaten By Classmates

Last year, nine Massachusetts teens were hit with a variety of felony charges after they cyber-bullied a girl who committed suicide. But when NYC teens want to bully each other, they skip the computer and go straight for the padlock inside a sock. Five Brooklyn high school girls are accused of beating up a fellow classmate in a Glee-Gone-Wrong attack: "I wasn't able to open my jaw. I wasn't able to talk. I wasn't able to sing," said 17-year-old victim Shacara McLaurin.... [ MORE ]

Jersey City Schools Super Says, "Young Girls Are Bad"

Yesterday, Jersey City Schools Superintendent Charles Epps told a group of pastors, "Our worst enemy is the young ladies. The young girls are bad. I don't know what they're drinking today, but they're bad," noting how the school systems pay $1 million for police officers. But afterwards he explains he was just speaking "metaphorically" and meant to refer to both "young ladies" and, we guess, little gentlemen.... [ MORE ]

World Shrugs At First Installment Of Atlas Shrugged Trilogy (Now In Theaters!)

Tea partying libertarians unite! Ayn Rand's Objectivist tome has made it to the big screen, at long last, and as a trilogy. In 1991 the Library of Congress and the Book of the Month Club ranked the 1957 bestselling novel as the 2nd most influential book ever, the Bible came in 1st place. So how will the movie live up to the printed word? It's not lookin' so good. Part One is in theaters today (tax day!), and the reviews are out; here are some gems:... [ MORE ]
