Bloomberg Not Popular At Rockaway St. Patrick's Parade

_Bloomberg Not Popular At Rockaway St. Patrick's Parade

Yesterday Mayor Bloomberg took to the streets of Rockaway, Queens to march in the neighborhood's annual St. Patrick's Day parade, but locals really didn't seem to want him there. A combination of residual anger at Bloomberg's remarks t and his recent cost-cutting initiatives had some parade waters shouting, "Go back to Manhattan!" and "Take the A train home!" Sure, just as long as you call him a car first. [MORE]

Was Central Park Cop Scooter Speeding During Crash?

Last week, a police officer was suffered neck and back injuries after his scooter—the kind that looks more like a little golf cart—crashed into a light signal pole in Central Park at West 77th Street and West Drive. The cops told DNAinfo that the light pole "fell on top of the police scooter, causing the officer to lose control of the three-wheeled vehicle and tip it over onto its side." But a runner told a different story.... [ MORE ]

Man Who Punched Snooki Can't Find Job, Joins Army

Brad Ferro, who gained national fame after punching America's Meatball Snooki on an episode of Jersey Shore, has had a tough time recently. He was fired from his job as a gym teacher in Queens, and hasn't been able to get hired since. Left without any other options, he has joined the army, and his dad is pissed that it has come to this. Dior Shows Final Galliano Collection In Emotional Show

Yesterday, the fashion house Christian Dior showed its Fall/Winter 2011 collection, the final work from its former head designer, John Galliano, in a black tent with black chairs at the Rodin Museum in Paris. Fashion photographer Mario Testino told the NY Times, "It’s more like a funeral." And it was a serious affair: Christian Dior CEO Sidney Toledano publicly addressed Galliano's distressing behavior at the start o the show, “It has been deeply painful to see the Dior name associated with the disgraceful statements attributed to its designer, however brilliant he may be. What happened last week has been a terrible and wrenching ordeal for us all."... [ MORE ]

Neighbors Battle Over Whether Photo Is Art Or Porn

It's tough enough living in cramped apartment buildings with only paper thin walls to separate you from your neighbor, but trying sharing a communal space with a pornographic artist! That's the hell that Marie Nazaire has been living with: her neighbor, photographer Rafael Fuchs, put up a photo montage featuring buxom nudes in the lobby of their Bushwick apartment building. Nazaire, who has two children, saw the piece as porn, and ripped it down. And Fuchs told the Post he was a bit upset, to say the least: "I was mad. I felt like I was raped."... [ MORE ]

Videos: "Duh, Winning!" SNL Tackles Charlie Sheen

Saturday Night Live returned with a new episode last night: Host Miley Cyrus poked fun at her "scandals" during her opening monologue, but most of the fun had to do with Charlie Sheen. The cold open had Bill Hader as Sheen in a new talk show, "Duh, Winning!"—where the fellow trainwreck guests included John Galliano, Moammer Gadhafi, and Lindsay Lohan (plus Christina Aguilera as an MC). Of course Vanessa Bayer played Miley Cyrus in a The Miley Cyrus Show bit—Cyrus herself played Justin Bieber—and another sketch illustrated the difficulty of being the Black-Eyed Peas who are not Fergie and will.i.am.
