Early this morning FIPS posted this shot of a Porsche in Manhattan with a license plate reading "RCESSION". Douche move, but FIPS seems to think that this is absolute proof that Brooklyn is superior to Manhattan. They write that Manhattan is "starting feeling more like Long Island every day. Above, another timely reminder to file in my 'why Park Slope doesn't suck as much as Manhattan' folder. No matter how bad BK gets, the city will always, always, always outdo(uche) us." Well, let's think about this for a moment: [MORE] | Whether you call them "productivity goals" or "a list of things to do before the end of the month," there has been indisputable proof that the NYPD higher-ups widely encourage the use of quotas: there have been recordings of station meetings, there have been leaked documents, and there have been disgruntled officers threatening boycotts. But in case you weren't convinced before, a jury has now ruled that quotas are real, and they definitely motivate and affect NYPD cops' arrests: "It's a binding decision by a jury that nobody's appealing. Other lawyers can now argue convincingly that the issue of quotas has been decided," said lawyer Seth Harris.... The funding will not directly benefit homeowners; it will reimburse costs for temporary and overtime labor as well as the expenses of removing the island's 23 inches of snow. However petitions for funding for th Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn were denied. Were they not disasters as well?... Blast, we just broke our third monocle this week!... The bill, which was introduced by Councilman Peter Vallone, was signed into law by Mayor Bloomberg at the start of the month, but it seems many pet lovers are actually not thrilled by its passing. Dog Federation of NY, a dog owner advocacy group, sent us an email today which read: "The sweeping language will criminalize the normal, everyday activities of caring pet and animal owners and could even drive events like the Westminster Kennel Club dog show out of Madison Square Garden. We are calling for a repeal."... Hardy scored the winning basket with just over a second left, the final two of his team-leading 19 points. Lavin sneakers improved to 6-1 and have become the most important good luck charm for the Johnnies since Looie's sweaters. ... [ MORE ] | | An NYPD cop is currently in stable condition in the hospital after accidentally shooting himself in the leg on Saturday. He reportedly shot himself while inside the 67th Precinct house in East Flatbush; the Post reports that he was re-holstering his gun after placing a suspect in a holding cell and the gun discharged. Unfortunately, the only thing we can think of is wide receiver Plaxico Burress and his accidental shooting of himself in the leg at a nightclub. That's one way of being able to compare yourself to a pro football player. Or this officer.... [ MORE ] | | |
