The NYTimes reports today that there are more than 37,000 people licensed to have a handgun in the city. It's a small but substantial group which includes many prominent businessmen, city council members, celebrities, journalists, judges and lawyers. Among the most prominent names: Queens DA Richard Brown, actor Robert De Niro, radio host Don Imus, Donald Trump, actor Harvey Keitel, radio host Howard Stern, city council members Inez Dickens and Peter Koo, and Federal Judge Sterling Johnson Jr. As Johnson Jr noted soberly, "I was a special prosecutor. Sixteen years in narcotics. I didn't make a lot of people happy." Arturo Sanchez, a Chinatown Fair regular, spoke with arcade manager Henry Cen, who said that CF "lost it's lease after decades of being in business" and will be closing on the 23rd (there's some confusion as to whether that means February 23 or March 23). In the game of role-play, the 'slave' actually has the power."... Now the Daily Mail reports on Logan's attack, "Sensitive parts of her body were covered in red marks that were originally thought to have been bite marks. After further examination they were revealed to be from aggressive pinching. It has also been revealed that she was stripped, punched and slapped by the crowd, which was labelling her a spy and chanting 'Israeli' and 'Jew' as they beat her."... While that may be frowned upon by the city's Finest, who knew that drinking indoors could get you a summons? A reader who was in attendance at the Arch Collective gallery that night sent along these photos and tells us: ... [ MORE ] | | As you may recall, earlier this month LCD Soundsystem announced their final show, to be performed at MSG this April. When tickets went on sale, they sold out in seconds, and many landed on StubHub with shiny new inflated pricetags. There was outrage from both fans and James Murphy himself, and eventually four more shows were added, to be held at a smaller: Terminal 5 (tickets on sale tomorrow). But were those shows planned anyway? To the conspiracy board! Felix Salmon at Reuters investigates a theory that the MSG shows never, in fact, sold out.... [ MORE ] | | |
