James Madison High School teacher Alini Brito was fired last week for allegedly having sex with co-worker Cindy Mauro in an empty classroom in November 2009. A janitor caught them with their pants down and tops off, but Brito says it wasn't sex, it was a medical emergency. Brito claims she is a diabetic, and invited Mauro upstairs to "check her blood sugar" and give her an insulin shot. We've totally seen this movie before. [ MORE ] |  | According to reports, Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot during a public appearance at a Tuscon grocery store today. There are conflicting reports whether she is in surgery or was killed. ABC reports that as many as 12 people had been shot at the "Congress at Your Corner" event outside a Safeway store, and that Giffords had been shot in the head. [ MORE ] |  | A couple of days ago police sources told the Brooklyn Paper that the NYPD was beginning a borough-wide crackdown on cyclists who don't follow the letter of the law. The source promised that bicycle riders will be ticketed for often-overlooked "vehicular offenses, such as failing to obey traffic signals and signs, breaking the speed limit, tailgating, and even failure to signal before turning."
